work as a behaviour therapist supporting children with developmental and behavioural needs, including autism, using structured, evidence-based techniques. Suited to those building a career in therapy or special-needs support, it is offered online and in person at our JLT campus and leads to a KHDA-accredited FIT Institute certificate.

Course content

  • Learn the core principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), the most effective approach used to support individuals with behavioral challenges. This includes understanding reinforcement, punishment, and how to use these principles to modify behavior in positive ways.
  • Study a range of disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental conditions, and how these conditions can influence learning, communication, and behavior.
  • Gain insight into how to tailor interventions to meet the unique needs of each client.
  • Master the techniques for collecting and analyzing behavioral data. You will learn how to monitor progress and adjust interventions based on data to ensure effective treatment and improvement.

  • Learn how to conduct behavioral assessments to identify clients’ specific needs, strengths, and challenges. This helps in developing tailored intervention plans to address the most critical areas for improvement.
  • Gain proficiency in evidence-based teaching strategies that promote skill development, improve social interaction, and enhance communication abilities. You will learn to use techniques like Discrete Trial Training (DTT) and Natural Environment Teaching (NET).
  • Understand how to identify and manage challenging behaviors such as aggression, self-harm, or non-compliance. You will learn to develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) designed to reduce disruptive behaviors and replace them with more appropriate actions.
  • Study the ethical guidelines that govern behavior therapy practices. Learn about client confidentiality, informed consent, and maintaining professionalism in all aspects of your work.
