  4. Steps to teaching phonics: creating an enabling environment 

  5. Indoor and outdoor phonics activities 

  6. Key facts about phonics 

  7. Phase 1 phonics: environmental sounds 

  8. Phase 2 phonics: CVC words and letter formation 

  9. Practical sessions: group work for demo lessons, allowing participants to practice teaching phonics

  1. Identifying tricky words: initial consonant blends and final consonant blends 

  2. Understanding how the environment supports a child’s needs 

  3. Phase 3 phonics: digraphs and trigraphs
